General & Safety Questions

Is Ayahuasca safe?

When facilitated within a traditional setting with rigorous medical vetting, Ayahuasca is safe for eligible individuals. We conduct thorough pre-retreat screenings to verify medical histories and eliminate potential risks or pharmaceutical interactions. Sober, awake facilitators are present throughout every ceremony.

Do I need to travel to South America for an authentic experience?

No. Our retreats bring authentic Shipibo-Conibo curanderos with 33+ years of lineage practice directly to Ontario. You receive traditional Amazonian plant medicine, ceremonies, and master plant treatments within a comfortable, local 58-acre sanctuary, saving you international travel fatigue, flight costs, and tropical health risks.

What is your facilitator-to-guest ratio?

We strictly enforce a 2:10 Facilitator-to-Guest Ratio (2 dedicated facilitators for every 10 guests). This intimate ratio guarantees personalized care, direct attention from our Shipibo shamans, and immediate support whenever needed.

Ceremony & Plant Treatments

What happens during a traditional ceremony?

Ceremonies take place at night inside our climate-controlled ceremony hall. Guided by Shipibo master curanderos, the sessions begin with quiet smudging and the blessing of the sacrament. Once the medicine takes effect, the shamans sing sacred Icaros (healing songs) to guide the energy, conduct individual 1-on-1 healings, and assist in physical or emotional purging.

What is La Purga (the purge), and is it mandatory?

La Purga refers to the physical release such as vomiting, sweating, or crying that often occurs during the ceremony. In traditional shamanism, purging is considered a beneficial cleansing process that expels physical toxins, heavy energy, and repressed emotional blockages. While common, not every participant purges physically in every ceremony.

What other plant treatments are included?

Beyond Ayahuasca ceremonies, your stay includes a complete suite of supporting therapies:

  • Piñon Colorado Protocol: Brain and blood remedy for nervous system grounding.
  • Sangre de Grado Cleanse: Tree sap remedy to restore gut flora and digestive health.
  • 5-Plant Vapor Baths: Botanical steam therapy to sweat out systemic impurities.
  • Mucura Sinus Cleanses: Nasal clearing to relieve mental fog.
  • Floral Protection Baths: Herbal immersion to seal your energetic field post-ceremony.

Preparation & Medical Eligibility

Why is La Dieta (the diet) necessary?

Adhering to La Dieta for 10–14 days prior to your retreat purifies your physical body and clears your energetic field. Eliminating tyramine-rich foods, alcohol, recreational drugs, processed foods, and sexual activity prevents adverse physical reactions and ensures your system is receptive to plant medicine.

What medications are contraindicated with Ayahuasca?

Medications that affect serotonin levels including SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs, and tricyclic antidepressants can cause dangerous interactions such as Serotonin Syndrome and must be safely tapered off under medical supervision weeks prior to arrival. Cardiac medications, certain blood pressure drugs, and recreational substances are also contraindicated.

Is transportation included?

Yes. All retreat containers feature complimentary, door-to-door shuttle transfers from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) or home addresses across surrounding Ontario regions.

Can I visit the sanctuary before booking?

No. To protect the privacy, energetic boundaries, and quiet atmosphere required for our retreat participants, walk-ins are strictly prohibited. Sanctuary access is granted exclusively to registered guests with confirmed bookings.
